Steven Duede studied painting and printmaking at the Kansas City
Art Institute and at Park University in the mid 1980s' to the backdrop
of locust trees and the rolling landscapes of middle America. A
young entrepreneur, he co-founded and operated EHP Records {enormous
horsepower} in 1986 where he went on to become known in midtown
Kansas City for specialized services in imported and independent
music but also host to a gallery space for regional and national
artists to exhibit their works. Individual artists as well as senior
painting classes from Kansas City Art Institute hung works in the
EHP Gallery space. In addition to hosting art exhibits Steven worked
as a DJ and promoter, booking nationally known artists in independent
arts and music and in doing so affecting the arts and music scene
in Kansas City MO at that time. Steven continued to exhibit work
and to develop as an artist participating in a variety of public
venues, galleries and arts festivals including live performances.
Steven
developed DUEDE dot COM in 1997 and then the now defunct FUNDAMENTALDESIGN
dot COM in 1999 as vehicles for showcasing his work to a wider audience.
In addition to an ongoing exhibit schedule Steven began to work
independently as a website and graphic designer participating in
several arts and education related internet and graphic design projects.
Since moving to the Boston area in summer of 2001, Steven has participated
in several public art exhibits most notably at the Zeitgeist Gallery
in Cambridge, Holyoke Center Exhibit Space in Cambridge and in the
Arlington Center for the Arts, DeCordova Museum and Cambridge Art
Association. In addition Steven's work was accepted into the DeCordova
Museum's corporate arts program with works on loan to specific corporate
members. A prolific artist Steven continues to move forward in the
creative process.
Mr. Duede spent three years as Visitor Services director with the
DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park and presently works as Visitor
Services manager at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston
one of the largest Contemporary Art Museums in the United States
and one of a kind in the region. He is very active in the administrative
day to day activities personally working toward creating greater
access for the public to Contemporary Art. An appointment to the
Board of Directors with the Cambridge Art Association has further
expanded administrative work with a focus on marketing, public relations
and programming.

Oversees and maintains the Visitor Services Staff. Maintains access
to the Museum and Terrace in regard to all visitors and tours formal
and informal. Box office management to Performing Arts Center Facilitates
Visitor Access to Educational Programs Liason to the public.
Director

Executive Committee, marketing and public relations committee, Member

October 2004: Consultant to the New Britain Museum of American Art
in New Britain CT. Focused discussion on Visitor Services programming,
tours and membership activities. In advance of upcoming expansion.
2001-April/May:
Conducted three six hour seminars in creative web design and development
through Communiversity, a not for profit community education organization
based in Kansas City MO. and attached to the University of Missouri
in Kansas City.
1986
to 1989: Sole Proprieter and General Manager. EHP {Enormous Horsepower}
Records. Kansas City, MO. Specialized Duties included managment
of retail sales, inventory control, music inventory buying, bookkeeping
as well as graphic design in display and advertising. Interviewed
sales staff, hired, conducted performance evaluations, and dismissed
staff members as needed. In addition to the shop's display art,
several art exhibits and a guest lecturer from the Kansas City Art
Institute were organized by Mr. Duede.

Attended
the Kansas City Art Institute, Kansas City MO. in 1985 and 1986 studying
painting, printmaking and photography as well as two semesters studying
painting at Park University in Parkville MO. and Penn Valley College
in Kansas City MO. Continuing education includes two recent multimedia
courses at M C Colleges in Kansas City MO. Topics covered included
Adobe Photoshop techniques, digital video editing and CD-ROM authoring.
Fall 2001 Completed training with Macromedia University On-line in
Flash animation. 24 years of studio artwork and participation in the
creative process and the visual arts.
